Short Description:

The photographic transfer process is utilized in many realms of contemporary art and commercial spaces today. This course offers students a chance to elevate their photography onto a physical object and creatively combine photography and sculpture. A photo can be transferred onto canvas, paper, wood, metal, rock, cement and many more materials. Students will learn about the hands-on, expressive, and inherently imperfect process of the Photographic Transfer –that each object is unique and comes with endless possibilities. Furthermore, the use of digital layouts and everyday materials will allow students to continue this practice away from the classroom and studio. Class demonstrations and lab time will focus on the various methods of transferring an image, types of materials, digital layout, and hands-on practice. Students are welcome and encouraged to bring their own material in which they would like to transfer a photo onto.
